Currency

The Moroccan currency is called Dirham and is abbreviated Dh or DH.
The small change is called centimes.
100 centimes corresponding 1 DH.

There are both coins and banknotes.
Coins are 10 and 20 centimes and the dirham in denominations of ½, 1, 2, 5 and 10.
The banknotes are available as 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 DH bills.

It is important to note:
The currency is subject to an import and export ban.
But you can change € into DH at the airport. This can be done both with cash and by credit card. For this you get a receipt, which you have to keep until you leave the country, so that you can change the remaining amount back.
There are also exchange offices and ATMs in many cities. You should only clarify in advance with your bank whether fees are due.

In the big cities you can often pay by credit card in stores and hotels, in smaller towns usually only cash is accepted.
